Broken eyes and a cocaine smile Met my lady for a little while Said my lady "Please take your time, Don't be so happy about goin' blind." So to the races, I did go Bet two bits on a one bit show Never did I need no heart of gold For if I did, it would have been sold Oh Lord! I don't mind dieing I ain't done trying that you know Oh Oh! I may be fed to the lions When all the way down I go Fill the chamber with another led Point and aim for the soul they said Pull the trigger my flesh has bled I'm the one in the stories you've read

I'm so tired of this place Tired of the pace Tired and loose Tie a noose Around the tree Why does the plan fall through When I'm with you All by myself I can't be helped I'm losin' faith Why must I dream with eyes Filled with sand and fire Seems like I'm truly alive But I'm dieing with desire Violent dreams I will not realize Flooding my vision and turning the tides Wasting away on a grey afternoon Dieing with desire, dieing with desire Why must I dream with eyes Filled with sand and fire Why must I dream with eyes Filled with sand and fire Why must I dream with eyes Filled with sand and fire Seems like I'm truly alive But I'm dieing with desire Violent dreams I will not realize Flooding my vision and turning the tides Wasting away on a grey afternoon Dieing with desire, dieing with desire

Different plans, distance lands We live our lives in the trees As time may stand, unwind the strand Of the changes on the breeze It’s your last chance for the right way It’s your last glance at the fight babe Demons perch on the church tonight We’ve killed all our sin with a stake Will our greedy eyes still testify As we lay here in bed wide awake? It’s our last dance with the knife babe It’s our last stance, well it might be Here in the darkness we’re crawling forth Movin’ towards a corpse That we’ll leave in the dirt when we’re gone Candles burn by a porcelain urn As strangers take to the streets We will only learn as the tables turn To the hour of our defeat It’s our last lance of the lightning It’s our last chance and it’s frightening Here in the darkness we’re crawlin’ forth Beatin’ on an old dead horse Runnin’ a one way course Hidin’ our remorse Drowning in the blood they force Still movin’ towards a corpse That we’ll leave in the dirt when we’re gone

Who's gonna be there when the love is gone Who's gonna be there when the moon is full of fear Who's gonna be there, blood river on your mind A stranger site than the rain on the desert sands And when you smile, You move me in so many ways In so many different color you touch the air Well the seasons they come and they go When the moon is high, I will take low Midnight and your dark eyes, reasons they change Under moonlit skies, meanings rearrange

Oh, my friend I can’t pretend I’ll see you there again See you there again We once were three But now I’m one I know you noticed When the one begun See you there again I’ll never see you there again The aging of my eyes The motion of the skies Passages passing on While our ties untwine The days are gone of youth’s vacation, Repetition, our relation, Wallowing in fuzzination God send me to my own creation Ascend into my free soul Melting in rock n’ roll Like passing through the Pharaoh’s chambers My past becomes a beautiful stranger Oh, my friend I can’t pretend I’ll see you there again

about

The 2010 EP, the Fifth Measure, so named for a series of drawings by Jonas Cain, marked a period of transition for Opel. The arrival of drummer Mark Putnam and the departure of keyboardist Josh Gunther lead the band to re-prioritize, with a lean towards live performances. Perhaps there was also a bit of foreshadowing at the studio, when Theresa Berard (Opel's new addition in 2012) recorded epic backing vocals on "Here in the Darkness" and "All the Way Down". The truth is, the Fifth Measure is an incomplete work. The vision that Fiore had for the album was never brought to fruition. Instead, having a new direction for the band, he decided to record one final song "Requiem for the Fuzz" and release the session as an EP.

about

Opel Springfield, Massachusetts

Driving bass, complex percussion, dark melodic keyboards, and intense electric guitar leads define the sound that Opel claims as their own. Springfield, Massachusetts based rock band, Opel began writing and performing songs about love, life, loss, and addiction back in 2005 when bassist Bill Szafarowitz and song writer James Fiore (formerly of the band Project Fuzz) joined forces. ... more
